Title: AWP Opens New Training Center in Anchorage
The sound of hammers and buzzing saws has been steady at the new Alaska Works Training Center which opened in March.
The 3,000-foot training center is being leased from Cook Inlet Realty and will provide much-needed space for classroom and hands-on training in the construction trades. The new facility is located in Mountain View and is part of Cook Inlet Housing’s revitalization of Mountain View, one of Anchorage’s oldest neighborhoods.
“We’re already swamped,” said carpentry instructor Mike Tucker. “It’s going to be a good year for construction, especially weatherization, so everyone wants training.
