Pipeline Training

Pipeline Header

The annual pipeline training event held in Fairbanks is the only one if its kind in the nation. For two weeks each year, trainees learn the skills and teamwork needed to build a pipeline across Alaska. Training as a combined workforce, students receive hands-on instruction in conditions similar to those they will experience on the job.

The sixth annual pipeline training event was held October 22 - November 1, 2007. Many of the 93 trainees went to work immediately after graduation or continued their training in trade apprenticeships.

Alaska Works Partnership recruited 20 students from 16 rural communities, giving rural trainees an opportunity to learn pipeline construction skills. Instruction was provided by 22 journeymen in the pipeline construction trades with the support from pipeline trade training trusts.

Training funds provided by Denali Commission, AK Dept. of Labor & Workforce Development/STEP, Industry and Pipeline Trade Unions.
