New Pipeline Training Yard
Alaska Works Partnership signed a 50 year lease with the Fairbanks North Star Borough for 40 acres in the Tria Road Industrial Park. The Borough also sold an adjoining 12 acres to AWP to create a pipeline construction training center.
The training yard will be designed for the equipment and processes to actually build large diameter pipelines in arctic conditions. Funding was provided by the State. The center will assure that pipeline training is available for years to come.
The Fairbanks Pipeline Training Center opened in October 2009. The new facility is being used to prepare the next generation of Alaskan pipeline workers. The Center has two 12,500 square foot buildings that house shops, classrooms, and a state-of-the-art safety lab.
